Frequently-Asked Questions

FAQs About Injury Law And Hudgins Law Firm's Process
Free Injury Case Review
  • What cases does your firm handle?

At Hudgins Law Firm, we handle all sorts of personal injury matters.  Car accidents, premises liability, trip, slip, fall down cases, negligent security assaults, and dog bite cases make up the large majority of the matters we handle.

  • How do you bill for your legal services?

At Hudgins Law Firm, we don’t get paid unless you win and make a recovery.  Our fee is a percentage of the recovery made.  Any monies that get paid to the firm will come out of the recovery, so you never have to come out of pocket for anything we do.

  • What should I do after a car crash?

Call the police and wait for them to come and fill out a report.  Also, call your own car insurance company to report the crash.  Finally, if you feel any pain at all, make sure you get checked out at a medical facility.  Florida car insurance law requires you to be seen by a medical provider within 14 days of a crash or you could be forfeiting valuable benefits.

  • Why does my car insurance pay my medical bills if I am injured in a car crash even when it is the other person’s fault?

That is part of the Florida No-Fault Law.  The No-Fault Law DOES NOT mean nobody is at fault for the accident.  Generally speaking, what it means is that your own car insurance pays your bills from injuries related to a car crash regardless of who is at fault for the crash.  That is the law in Florida.

  • Why does my car insurance pay my medical bills if I am injured in a car crash even though I wasn’t in my car at the time of the crash?

This is part of the Florida No-Fault Law as well.  Our car insurance follows us.  So, if we are injured in a car crash as a driver, passenger or pedestrian, your own car insurance pays the medical bills for those injuries regardless of who is at fault for the crash.  That is the law in Florida.

  • How much is my claim worth?

Every case is unique.  Injuries affect different people differently.  The first thing that needs to be done is to determine the nature and extent of the injury sustained.  We wouldn’t want to settle your case today and then find out that 6 months from now, you require surgery for injuries related to your crash.  As such, the nature and extent of the injury sustained is one of the more important factors in determining the value of any claim.

  • Will there be more than one attorney who handles my claim?

Here at Hudgins Law Firm, we have two attorneys who handle every claim together.  Mr. Hudgins and Mr. Minio have been working together for over 25 years to obtain the best results for our clients.

  • Why do I need a lawyer?

When you hire an attorney after you’ve been injured, you level the playing field.  Insurance companies have attorneys, adjusters and investigators on their team who handle these matters every single day.  Getting injured is not what you do every day.  Here at Hudgins Law Firm, we help people who have been injured every day.

  • Who decides whether or not to settle my claim?

You do!  You are the boss.  Your case will never settle without your knowledge, understanding and consent.  The attorneys at Hudgins Law Firm are here to help you and provide experience and advice, but you always make the final decision about your case.

  • What should I bring to my initial consultation?

The only thing you really need to bring is yourself.  The initial consultation is always free.  If you have paperwork, photos, medical records, etc. and want to bring them, that is fine and can be helpful.  However, you don’t need to go get anything for the initial consultation.
